Screenblock™ Problems

Below are some answers to technical issues.  If you encounter a problem you cannot overcome, please do email us at tech@screenblock.com.

I've lost my Allowance labels or Instructions

These may be downloaded from this web site.  Click here.

The lights are too bright on Screenblock

The brightness of the lights may be adjusted by:

     1. Unlock Screenblock with the keys and remove the lid.

     2. Press the +/- keys- this will adjust the brightness.

     3. Replace lid and lock.

Screenblock is giving an intermittent fault

A Reset may cure this.  To reset Screenblock:

     1. Unlock Screenblock with the keys and remove the lid.

     2. Press and hold down the ‘On’ and ‘Override’ buttons for 5 seconds.

     3. The unit will give 4 bleeps to confirm the reset.

     4. Turn Screenblock off and then on.

     5. Present a fob to the display.

     6. Replace lid and lock.

If this does not help, please email us.

My tokens won't work (2 fobs, red/yellow cards)

Try actually touching the centre of the display (the red Perspex rectangle in the centre of Screenblock that normally displays the time) with the token.  If that doesn't work, try re-enrolling the tokens:

     1. Unlock Screenblock with the keys and remove the lid.

     2. Present a fob to the display.

     3. Replace lid and lock.

If this does not help, please email us.

The allowance isn't being counted (i.e. the top red light of the 12 LED display isn't blinking when the TV is on)

The top light of the 12 LED display should blink when the TV is On (except if Screenblock is in Override).  If the top light is not blinking, the allowance is not being taken- this is a problem.  The reason for this is that Screenblock has failed to understand the power states of your TV and cannot distinguish between On, Standby or Off.

The solution to this problem is to set it manually:

> Instructions to set manual threshold

The allowance is being counted when the TV is in standby (i.e. the top red light of the 12 LED display is blinking when the TV is in standby)

The top light of the 12 LED display should never blink when the TV is Off or in Standby.  If the top light is blinking, the allowance is being taken- this is a problem if the TV is Off or in Standby.  The reason for this is that Screenblock has failed to understand the power states of your TV and cannot distinguish between On, Standby or Off.

The solution to this problem is to set it manually:
